A year ago, when I started at MindYourPass, I asked myself: What makes our solution so different? After all, the market already seems saturated with password managers. But as I delved deeper into the world of cyber, it became increasingly clear to me that the problem of password management goes far beyond simply offering a tool.
My own experience
Take my own experience. Prior to joining MindYourPass, I worked for organizations that had invested in a password manager. The idea sounded promising: each employee received a digital safe to securely store all their passwords. But the reality? Hardly anyone used it. Not out of unwillingness, but use was not encouraged. A tool was simply offered and they assumed that it solved the problem.
Unfortunately, that's not how it works, we now know at MindYourPass. It's about involving people in the change. How often does it happen that organizations implement a new tool but forget to really involve employees? The real change starts with people's behavior. If they don't understand why strong passwords are critical and how to use a password manager, nothing changes.
The people-centered approach
What appeals to me about the MindYourPass approach is the people-centered approach: actively involving everyone in the use of passwords securely. Fortunately, the way there is not complicated, but it does have to be done for a while. I was already aware that MindyourPass is a good thing about managing passwords. No more hassle with remembering complex passwords, while MindYourPass doesn't store your passwords anywhere. Super simple.
But what really makes MindYourPass people-focused is its proactive approach: alerting you when your password is at risk or doesn't comply with policies. More and more customers are taking advantage of this and are seeing that employees are embracing secure password use.
It works like this: employees are made aware of the (un) security of their password at every login moment. In addition to issuing a warning, MindYourPass offers immediate help: within a few clicks, users can change their password to a strong and unique one generated by MindYourPass. MindYourPass also pays extensive attention to user training, so that everyone becomes proficient in using the solution.
So, what's next?
Since working at MindYourPass, I've realized that a password is much more than just an access code. It's a line of defense for everything that matters to you and your organization. Strong passwords are the basis of digital security, but we make the real difference by including employees in that process of change. Because only when everyone in the organization understands the importance of using passwords securely, do you really take steps in the organization's cybersecurity.
What are my goals for the coming year? I will continue to help organizations and employees make secure password use accessible and easy. In addition, based on valuable input from our customers and users, I will continue to make the MindYourPass solutions and approach a little better over and over again!
What does your organization do? Are you already using a password solution? Or are you ready for the next step in digital security? I'd love to help you out!
